1. Situation

As part of a multi-year programme working hand-in-hand with the client, we lead the delivery of a Front-Line Safety Leadership Programme to deliver the following intended outcomes:

  • Influence positive behaviours at site.
  • Demonstrate active listening and emotional intelligence.
  • How to facilitate and foster healthy growth conversations.
  • Use the principles of Human Performance per their organisation’s adoption of Human and Organisational Performance Principles.
  • Brought external perspectives with a wealth of experience & knowledge of their Operations from other parts of the clients’ global network of sites.
  • Used a wide variety of coaching principles – we used a set of techniques and tools, such as GROW model (Goal, Reality, Option, Way Forward), nudges etc. to support programme participants.
  • Practical experience – we made frequent use of site visits during the training to bring the course to life, to make it real and to embed the learnings in the organisation and on site.

2. Value Created

Positively influenced safety culture and leadership behaviours at site.

  • Trained participants how to actively listen and build engagement at all levels in the plant.
  • Supported participants in how to facilitate and foster healthy conversations.
  • Incorporated the principles of Human Performance into real time situations.
  • Created an appetite for further professional development in the realm of safety at the plant.

Outcomes: enabled a substantial amount of dialogue, interaction and sharing. There was excellent engagement with taking lessons learned from the classroom into practice in the power plant and enabled the desire for further personal and professional growth for programme participants.
